Celebrating BC Nonprofit Day: Amplifying the Sector’s Calls for Sustainable Change

Recognizing the Power of BC’s Nonprofits
BC Nonprofit Day was established in 2023 to celebrate NPO organizations that strengthen and sustain communities across the province. At Koja Consulting (Koja), we’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of BC’s most dedicated nonprofits—frontline staff, board members, and volunteers who are the heart and hands of their organizations. Their work shapes communities, provides essential services, and fosters resilience every day.
A Collective Call to Action
This year, we’re joining nonprofit leaders in amplifying the Vantage Point report, Stretched Thin: The State of BC’s Nonprofit Sector. The report paints a clear picture of a sector stretched beyond capacity. Nonprofit burnout is real, and the call for change is urgent.
Nonprofits are being squeezed from both sides: while the costs of salaries, operations, and administration continue to rise, funding streams have not kept pace. Many organizations are struggling to maintain services while meeting growing community demand. Just last month, BC’s nonprofit sector “sounded the alarm” on the funding crisis, calling on funders to commit to long-term, flexible, and unrestricted funding to secure a sustainable future.
