Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Koja is client agnostic. We’ve worked with teams as small as 3 and as large as 120+. Non-profits and companies with $350k-$4M+ annual budgets. The commonality is that we work with any teams who are looking to create efficiency or solve a problem in their company, regardless of their industry. Corporate clients, non-profit or charities, cooperatives, or private clients. Our clients vary as much as the projects do!
A common first step is to undertake a Discovery Phase to formally investigate the need, viability and estimated budget for ‘the project’ itself. This helps management plan the budget and timing for important changes.
Most often we find that once initially hired, Koja is retained to follow through with the project. Our experience to date has been that, by developing an excellent working relationship with the team and management, Koja then continues to be called on to undertake further projects on the team’s wish list.
We are open to project scopes of all sizes. Many of our clients start with a Discovery Phase, then transition to modest multi-week through to multi-year long-term projects.
We get it. Koja is being hired to take some of the pressure off the team instead of creating more work for them! Yet, there are certain phases and tasks within any project where the intelligence and working knowledge comes from the team to best inform project-related decisions.
Input from or access to the team varies for each project and can be formalized in the scope.
Input and feedback (milestone check-ins, for instance) are great ways to make sure requirements are being fully met and to identify any risks or requirements that may come up were not included during the original scope development.
Depending on project needs and agreed upon scope, we can work closely with or independently from your team – with the understanding that at the end of an engagement, clients retain complete control of projects.
We will report directly to whomever you delegate, usually the CEO and/or CFO or perhaps a member of the Board of Directors.
Koja takes pride in our personal approach to project management and we have a wide array of skills and experience in the field. We prioritize clear communication and diligent documentation in every facet of our working relationship with you.
Our services are part-time and project-based, meaning that we are more cost-effective than hiring a new employee, eliminating any additional overhead expenses. Koja is also flexible to work around the schedule and demands of your project as it progresses from kick-off to close-out.
The success of each project is as important to us as it is to you!
The fast answer is: you wouldn’t be looking at this page if you had the capacity to easily do this in house.
If your internal team is already working at full capacity or lacks the right skill set, then you should hire a contract project manager to fill the gap. Moreover, an outsourced PMP (Project Management Professional) will be able to bring a new perspective to the table and won’t be limited by “how it’s always been done”.
